HANDMADE AND SUSTAINABLE – AUTUMN-INSPIRED LEAF LAMPS
Do you remember going for autumn walks in the low sun when you were a child and jumping into big piles of collected leaves? Or picking up the brightly coloured leaves that decorated the city streets in autumn colours? The South Tyrolean design studio MIYUCA proves with its LAAB lamp series that the life of leaves doesn’t have to end when they fall from a tree – MIYUCA handcrafts their unique lamps from exactly these fallen autumn leaves.
The RECYCLED NATURE COLLECTION project was born in 2015 in the search for alternative materials to plastic; the autumn lamps were the first product in the series. The warm light of the lamps made of leaves creates an inviting mood and a very special ambience in any room. At the same time, designer Jasmin Castagnaro raises awareness for the previously unused and completely natural raw material.

TIMELESS, MINIMALISTIC AND UNIQUE
Just as every autumn leaf that falls to the ground is unique, so too are LAAB leaf lamps, which owe their name to the South Tyrolean word for foliage. The leaves are first collected and carefully sorted by colour and type before being mixed with natural binding agents and organic resins. The special technique and re-usable wooden moulds create unique lamps from a translucent material. As a result, each handmade lamp differs in shade and texture, making them unique and precious pieces for every home.
The timeless reduced design of the lamps is clean and simple and reflects MIYUCA’s ideology and philosophy of slow living. The lamps embody careful craftsmanship, quality, sustainability and design and are a unique alternative in a world full of plastic.

Designer Jasmin Castagnaro
A SHORT BIOGRAPHY
In 2015, the young designer Jasmin Castagnaro, who studied at the Faculty of Design and Arts at the Free University of Bolzano, founded MIYUCA. Her aspiration in her design work? To evoke emotion. Before starting her own brand, Castagnaro worked as an industrial designer for various design studios, where she gained extensive experience in her field. In her projects, she now combines design with graphics and her creative ideas, all handmade – and always with a focus on sustainability, clarity and simplicity. What Castagnaro demonstrates with her work is what she has in common with many artists and designers: The ability to design messages that can be experienced with all the senses and trigger thoughts that question the world as we know it.
